Why do you charge a booking fee?

Booking fees pay for administration, phone calls and text messages to to secure your babysitter or day nanny.

Is there a minimum booking time?

The minimum booking period for evening babysitting and day nannies is 3 hours.

Why are there minimum booking hours?
We need to ensure that babysitters and day nannies are able to give up their evenings, weekends and days off to look after your children. A minimum booking of three hours attracts quality child carers to look after your children.

Will I get a receipt from my babysitter?
If you will require a receipt for the payment you make to the babysitter you should inform Yellow Duck Childcare Ltd prior to making the booking. Our babysitters are self-employed so will need to be informed prior to the booking.

Do you charge cancellation fees?
Where 24 hours or more notice is given there is no cancellation fee and Yellow Duck Childcare Ltd will refund your booking fee. If less than 24 hours’ notice is given your booking fee is non-refundable. For bookings cancelled with 3 hours or less notice, the client is requested to pay a cancellation fee of three-hours equal to the babysitter or day nannies hourly fee. Yellow Duck Childcare Ltd will pass the cancellation fee to the babysitter or day nanny.

What if my Yellow Duck babysitter or day nanny cancels?
Our babysitters and day nannies will inform Yellow Duck Childcare Ltd and yourselves if they have to cancel the booked session. In this case we will do our best to find you a replacement babysitter or day nanny as soon as possible. If we are unable to find a replacement babysitter or day nanny your booking fee will be refunded and your next booking fee will be free. Where a booking is cancelled by the babysitter or day nanny due to circumstances beyond their control e.g. sever weather conditions, we cannot refund your booking fee.

I am apprehensive about leaving my child with someone I do not know.
We understand parents may have concerns about leaving their children with someone they may not know. Our babysitters and day nannies have been carefully and personally selected by us, the owners, and successfully completed our screening and vetting process. We only choose the very best babysitters and day nannies. If you have any concerns, please do discuss them with us on 020 7033 9761 or

How much notice do I need to give to book a babysitter or day nanny?
To avoid disappointment, we recommend you give as much notice as possible, normally at least 48 hours for babysitters and 1 day notice for day nannies. We will always endeavour to find you a babysitter or day nanny even at very late notice.

Can I book a babysitter or day nanny on pubic holidays?

You can book a babysitter or day nanny on public holidays ('special days'). Special days are defined as: Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter Friday, Easter Monday, and any other public holidays as defined from time to time. If a bank holiday is on a weekend, a ‘substitute’ weekday becomes a bank holiday, normally the following Monday. The special days’ hourly rate is £12.00 per hour, this is so babysitters and day nannies are prepared to give up their holiday to work.

What time can my babysitter or day nanny start?
Babysitters can normally start from 6:30pm. If you require an earlier start you will need to give us plenty of notice to arrange an earlier start for you.

Day nannies normally start at 7am and finish at 6pm. If you require an earlier start or later finish time you will need to give us plenty of notice.

How late can my babysitter stay?
Most babysitters are happy to stay until midnight and it is expected that a normal babysitting booking would finish at midnight. If your booking is going to be later than midnight an extra £1.00 per hour is charged, paid directly to the babysitter. If the babysitter is not a car driver we recommend you pay for their taxi home as public transport can be difficult so late at night. You should inform Yellow Duck Childcare Ltd if you believe your booking may extend beyond midnight.

Can I meet the babysitter before they babysit for me?
We understand it can be difficult to leave your children with someone unfamiliar. Please rest assured every babysitter we send out has been carefully selected, interviewed, screened and vetted by us. We suggest, on your first booking you book your babysitter to arrive at least half an hour before you are due to go out. This allows you a chance to get to know them and go through your children’s routine before you leave.

Can I have the same babysitter or day nanny each time I book?
Wherever possible we always look to provide the same babysitter or day nanny for you. The more notice you give us the likelier we are able to fulfil your request if they are available.

How many children can a babysitter or day nanny look after?
Babysitters and day nannies can care for up to three children. Where all the children are under 5 years old we would suggest a second babysitter or day nanny is booked. Please call us to discuss your requirements. If babysitters or day nannies are required to look after children from another family, the other family would need to be a registered member of Yellow Duck Childcare Ltd or pay the non-registered members booking fee. Please call us to discuss your requirements.

What ages of children can a babysitters or day nannies look after?
